The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.1
Rich Media Player is intended to play media. It supports playing not only the files you store on your hard disks, external storage sources and network locations but also from online databases.
Moreover, it supports a wide range of formats. This application has a nicely designed interface, combining simplicity with an extensive set of functions, which, in my opinion, is its main asset if we compare it with other similar programs.
By scanning local drives, you can create multimedia libraries, which allow you to organize and index your files. Thus, you can easily access them. What is more, you can schedule automatic scanning. Another solution is to compose playlists. Fortunately, the application allows you to create as many as you need.
The application can play media files seamlessly. Moreover, it allows equalizing sound or applying video effects, such as adjusting image parameters and adding image and text overlays. It also lets you adjust speed and configure subtitles. Another advantage is that it can be used to not only play online files but to download them as well.
In general, Rich Media Player is a nice application. Unfortunately, it is not very sophisticated in terms of available functions. In fact, it does not offer anything beyond the list of functions available from most media players. For example, it cannot download subtitles from online databases or fill file tags automatically. However, if you are not expecting too much, you should definitely give it a try.
